Sound Shapes Matter
Sound has many mystical and magical properties all of which are grounded in scientific evidence. We watch a swan flapping its wings upon a lake and we can see ripples of concentric rings moving outwards, rearranging the shape of the lake. This is both beautiful to watch and also we are observing the law of vibration in motion. Every-thing is in vibration. The universe is a sound, both ancient mystics and quantum physicists now agree on this fact.
Just like electrons moving around the nucleus and atom, planets moving around our sun, everything vibrating and making a sound as it does. Our bodies make sounds, every organ, bone and tissue.
Sound travels in waves and is measured in frequencies and intensities. Frequency is measured in Hertz or Hz, named after the discoverer of electromagnetic radio waves, Heinrich Hertz.
A hertz measures the number of cycles per second that a waveform vibrates. The lower the sound, the longer and hotter the wave of vibration, the higher the sound the shorter and cooler the wave of vibration.
A healthy human ear can detect sound ranges from 16Hz to 20,000 Hz. To give us some frame of reference the lowest key on a piano registers at 27.5Hz and the highest at 4,186Hz.
Dolphins can receive sounds of up to 180,000 cycles per second and project it out, inaudible to us. Imagine hearing that amount of energy and what changes it is making to our molecular structure?
Research by The Tomatis Institute in France has shown that high-level frequencies in the range of 3,000 to 8,000Hz resonate within the brain improving thinking, conception of time and memory. Mid-level frequencies in the range of 750 to 3,000Hz stimulate the heart and lungs and the emotions. Low-level frequencies in the range of 125 to 750 Hz improve physical movement.

Matter Shaping
The Swiss engineer and doctor Hans Jenny, studied waveform phenomena (Cymatics) and meticulously documented, filmed and photographed his experiments over a 14-year period. He animated inert powders, pastes, and liquids into life-like, flowing forms, which mirrored patterns found naturally in nature, art and architecture.
All of these patterns were created using simple sine wave vibrations (pure tones) within the audible range. So what you see is a physical representation of vibration, or how sound manifests into form through the medium of various materials.
This breathtaking visual evidence that every sound in the universe is directly creating and affecting matter gives us astounding evidence of what is being created by us with every word, thought, movement and absorption of sound.
Imagine the affects sound has on delicate cells, tissues and organs, with each vibrating sound forming an intricate pattern creating energy fields of resonance in the surrounding space?
Each individual cell generates its own sound; groups of cells also generate their own sounds, as do the organs of the body. These sounds are harmonically related to each other. Indeed the entire human body has its own sound made up of all the sounds of its cells, tissues and organs.
Entrainment
Through the process of entrainment one vibrating object can shift and change the vibrations of another object. Dutch scientist Christian Huygens who also discovered the rings around Saturn discovered this phenomenon in the 17th century.
While working on the design of the pendulum clock in 1656, Huygens found that if he placed two unsynchronised clocks side by side on a wall, they would slowly synchronise to each other. In fact, the synchronisation was so precise that not even mechanical intervention could calibrate them more accurately.
Project the correct resonant frequency back
For us this means that we can shift disharmonious frequencies within us through creating sounds that are harmonious to a healthful state. Listening to music or sound can entrain us to the correct frequency for the part of us that is out of sync. Determining that correct frequency is governed and directed via Intention.
Intention is everything. For example if someone says “It’s lovely to see you” but the intention behind his or her words is something else, it is the energy behind the sound, which is being perceived by the receiver we hear. We hear you don’t actually think it is good to see us, and instantly our cellular make up begins to vibrate at a lower rate.
Whereas cohesion or agreement between the intention behind the sounds and the sounds created produce integrity and sincerity for the listener and the producer of the sounds. You cannot say one thing whilst thinking another and expect the hidden message to not be picked up.
Unfortunately in modern society most people do not acknowledge their subtle senses and pass them off as “overactive imaginations”. We need to acknowledge that others feel every thought and sound we are creating with the exact intention we used to create it.
No-thing is imperviable throughout the planet, the solar system, all galaxies and all dimensions. Our sounds and tones literally do reverberate through time and space.
So you can tune up and lift the universe and everything in it by raising your cellular notes through speaking, sounding authentically, listening to higher frequency music and thereby creating a strong resonant, electro-magnetic energy field around you. You will entrain others to your higher field. People will feel uplifted in your presence without sucking you dry, like a battery.
Instead when your inner intent is in alignment with your outer awareness you will lift others up to your frequency without you being brought down a note or two. But this requires self-discipline and daily practice to keep our frequencies high and bright. It is entirely possible.
Brainwaves
The brain is made up of billions of cells called neurons, which use electricity to communicate with each other, much like a telephone exchange.
The combination of millions of neurons sending signals at once produces an enormous amount of electrical activity in the brain. Electrical activity of the brain is commonly called a brainwave pattern, because of its cyclic, "wave-like" nature.
Research has shown that electrical activity in the brain will change depending on what a person is sensing. For example, the brainwaves of a sleeping person are vastly different than the brainwaves of a person wide-awake.
Below is a description of the known brainwave types or states of consciousness:
Beta 12hz - 38hz
Wide-awake. This is generally the state most people are in during the day and most of their waking lives. Stimulating Beta activity can improve emotional stability, energy levels, attentiveness and concentration.
Alpha 7hz - 12hz
Awake, but relaxed. When you get up in the morning and just before sleep, you are naturally in this state. When you close your eyes your brain automatically starts producing more Alpha waves. Alpha is the meditation state and interestingly Alpha brain waves are in sync with the earth resonance frequency of “schuman resonance” average 7/8cps, the earth’s electrical heartbeat.
Theta 4hz - 7hz
Light sleep or extreme relaxation. Theta is the state of deep shamanic work or healing work
Delta 0.5hz - 4hz
Deep, dreamless sleep. Delta is the slowest band of brainwaves. When your dominant brainwave is Delta, your body is healing itself and "resetting" its internal clocks. In the past the Delta state has seen us comatose but
with the earth’s rising frequencies we can now been in a Delta state and still be aware of communication.

Brainwave Entrainment
As sound or light is pulsed through us our brains have an electrical response to the rhythmic sensory stimulation. When the brain is given a stimulus, through the ears, eyes or other senses, it emits an electrical charge in response. These electrical responses travel throughout the brain to become what you "see and hear".
When the brain is presented with a rhythmic stimulus, such as a drum beat for example, the rhythm is reproduced in the brain in the form of these electrical impulses.
If the rhythm becomes fast and consistent enough, it can start to resemble the natural internal rhythms of the brain, called brainwaves. When this happens, the brain responds by synchronising its own electric cycles to the same rhythm.
Synchronising the electrical activity in our brain can be applied to directly influence our state of mind, including alertness, concentration, relaxation and creativity for example. It can even act as a gateway to ecstatic or altered states, such as deep meditation or "lucid dreaming" experiences.

Human Toning
The human voice is one of the most powerful healing tools we possess. Our body loves the sound of our own voice. Indeed, so start recording your voice, to truly hear how you sound!
Our voice creates a vibration that not only matches our physical body but also honestly describes the present state of our emotional self. We can hear in our voice the exact tone of our day along with all of its highs and lows. Everything is reflected in our voice, which explains why our own voices are never exactly the same.
People tone without even being aware it. For example when we groan or sigh, hum, say “ouch” or “Ahhhh” etc. These are all sounds, which we produce automatically without conscious direction. Sounds produced by us automatically are done so to release tension and pain in the body.
Almost from birth we begin the process of repressing these natural sounds and thus begins our journey of learning to be containers of storage rather than what we are meant to be, containers of self-expression. Toning helps us to shift into expressing again by using our natural sounds to release pent-up or blocked energy and re-establish a natural flow of energy.
Toning with the voice excites every cell in our body as we vibrate with the tones that naturally balance our cellular frequencies.
The beauty of toning is also that your instrument goes with you everywhere. Toning is particularly powerful when done in the shower, outdoors or anywhere that you feel confident and uninhibited. Cars are excellent places to tone, just like mini sound chambers!
Internal Body Massage with Toning
Toning creates a reverberation inside our bodies that literally massages our bones, tissues, cells, and fluids of our body. The vibration created by sounding with our voice affects our neurological and endocrine systems, our brainwaves and chakra systems. Every sound we make strongly vibrates the brain, and the pituitary and hypothalamus glands.
Toning can be used to balance our chakra system and affect our brainwave patterns. As we tone or sound we are stimulating the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, the master gland of the endocrine system, which lies very close to the roof of the mouth.
The upper palate vibrates and stimulates these glands increasing hormone release throughout the physical body. The pituitary gland secretes hormones responsible for growth, adrenal support, thyroid function, reproduction and various metabolic activities as well as our inner sight, the third eye.
When these glands are stimulated our immune function is increased with increased right and left-brain hemisphere balance; a balanced autonomic nervous system and greater release of emotions and healing capacity of the body.
By optimising entire endocrine function through sound our entire nervous system is naturally heightened. Thus all of our physical and non-physical senses are heightened.
Colours of Life
White light from the sun contains all the colours of the rainbow. You can see these colours by shining light through a glass prism. When a beam of white light shines through a prism, it is split into the colours of the rainbow.
These colours are called the visible colour spectrum. Each colour in the spectrum bends at a different angle as it passes through the prism. As a result, the colours are separated from each other.
The retinas in our eyes have three types of colour receptors in the form of cones. We can actually only detect three of the visible colours being, red, blue and green. It is these three colours that are deciphered in our brain to create all of the other colours we see.
Imagine then if you have heightened perception in the neurons in your brain how many different colour combinations it is possible to see or sense subtlety?
Remember it is not the mechanics of the eyes that see but the brain sending messages to our mind. Thus, two people observing the same object will each “see” it differently, based upon their unique neural patterns and past programming
Electromagnetic Spectrum
The radiation of colour forms part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Beginning with low frequency and long wavelength radio waves, microwaves, infrared waves, visible light waves (the eight colours of the spectrum), to ultraviolet rays, x-rays and gamma rays which are high frequency and short wave length. With cosmic rays having the shortest wavelength and highest frequency and science knowing little of these.

Wavelengths
The actual distance from source determines the wavelength of light e.g. visible light’s source is the sun. Frequency of vibration is determined by how many waves pass a certain point in a period of time.
White or natural light contains a mix of wavelengths and frequencies; while coloured light always has a fixed wavelength and frequency.
Red is a warming, energising colour and has the longest wavelength and slowest vibrational frequency. Violet and Magenta are cool and calming and contain the shortest wavelengths and fast vibrational frequencies.
Colour and sound are both forms of radiant energy. The energy of spectral colours or sounds will affect the energy pattern of tissue, stimulating that pattern and creating a new balance of energy in the tissue.
I like to include eight colours in the visible spectrum that match accordingly with one octave of eight notes in the musical scale and eight major chakras of the human body. With octave being taken from the Greek word “octo” meaning eight.
Properties of Colour
Below are listed properties of the visible and invisible spectrum:
Red
Is energising, vibrant, stimulating and at the hot end of the spectrum. It brings in new energy and increases blood flow and ambition. It is masculine energy of the fire element and is related to survival and the family unit. Red is a physical colour, a grounding colour. Too much red can incite anger. It is complementary to blue.
Black
Black is a protective colour that absorbs all other colours of the spectrum. It is a passive colour that can keep one stuck if overused.
Grey
Grey is a tranquil colour that when overly used can induce self-criticism and often non-commitment.
Brown
Is a stablising and grounding colour. The colour of the earth. It encourages commitment but too much will weaken self-esteem.
Orange
Is associated with joy and harmony. A feminine colour of the water element, it is associated with our emotions and relationships with others. Orange also is a sexual colour as it governs the reproductive organs. Too much orange can result in over exaggerated pride. It is complementary to indigo.
Yellow
Is the colour of the sun, it is stimulating and builds our self-esteem and self-will. It is a mental colour associated with logic and the element of air and masculinity. It brings in inspiration whereas too much yellow can over stimulate one. It is complementary to violet.
Green
Is the colour of nature, healing and balance. A feminine colour, think “mother earth”. It is soothing, calming and balancing to the emotions. It is complementary to every other colour.
Turquoise
Is a mixture of green and blue. This colour promotes well-being and soothes mental fatigue. It creates opportunity for change.
Blue
Is a cooling, calming colour that brings in feelings of tranquillity and peace. Too much blue can induce lethargy so use it as a complementing power colour. It is complementary to red.
Indigo
Indigo is a combination of blue and violet and increases the imagination and draws in inspiration and spiritual awareness and the sixth sense. Indigo is complementary to orange.
Violet
Violet is a strong psychic colour that is cooling and boosts our inner visions. Violet harmonises the mind and draws in a cloak of protection around us. Too much can be depressing. It is complementary to red.
Magenta
Is a very high vibration that is nurturing, soothing and gentle. It projects compassion and unconditional and spiritual love.
White
Is the colour of purity and innocence and contains all of the other colours of the visible spectrum. It brings in a sense of freshness and new life but too much can be isolating and tend to cut one off from being grounded.
Gold
Gold is highly energising and restores the physical body. It is associated with abundance, high wisdom and understanding. It is the colour of the sun, is masculine and of the fire element.
Silver
Silver is a cooling colour, feminine, of the water and of the moon. It enhances our intuition and is a calming and harmonising colour.
Chakras & Subtle Energy Fields
The word chakra is Sanskrit for “wheel”. The spinning of the chakras generates our aura or electromagnetic field. As each chakra spins it produces it own electromagnetic field. Each chakra field then combines with those generated by each of the chakras and together they produce what we know of as “the aura”.
The spinning of each chakra creates energy, the frequency of which determines the colour of the particular chakra. The amount of intensity of energy produced by a particular chakra determines the colour that dominates the auric field.
Major chakras are located near the endocrine glands and spinal column of the physical body. The chakras take in energy from light and sound that constantly moves and pulsates. Energy also flows up from the earth’s magnetic core and down from cosmic light. Thus, there are two flows of energy throughout the physical body, which also interact with the strength, and vitality of the chakra system.

How the Chakras React To Colour and Sound
Each chakra is sensitive to a light and sound vibration associated with the colours of the rainbow causing it to resonate at a certain frequency. These colours when the system is in health and balance move through the chakras easily. However, when there is an emotional disturbance the chakra becomes disturbed and hence he colour’s strength is weakened.
When a chakra is affected by the emotions its spin weakens and it gets smaller or spin intensifies and it gets larger. If weakened the endocrine and bodily glands associated with the chakra are affected and thus our health is affected.
One way of feeding and stimulating the chakra system is via colour meditation where the colours are visualised and breathed into the physical body. We can also bathe ourselves in colour through our clothing, environment, foods, music, movement, essential oils, sounding and engaging all the physical and subtle senses.
Subtle Energy Bodies
First Layer – The Physical Body
The physical layer is closest to the physical body and fits like a second skin. Generally it extends from 1⁄4 of an inch to 2 inches from the body. It usually appears as a blue colour. The shade of blue relates to the physical condition and health of the physical body. In this layer you feel all physical sensations, including pleasure and pain. We often refer to sensations in this layer as being “close to the surface”. This layer is generated from the intensity or spin of the base or root chakra.
Second Layer – The Emotional Body
This layer processes emotions, emotions within us and emotions we feel for others. This layer extends about 2 to 4 inches from the physical body and is not as defined as the physical layer, being more fluid and less structured. This layer appears as rainbow coloured clouds of fine substance in a continual fluid motion. Positive feelings generally create bright colours in this layer, whereas negative feelings generally create dark colors. This layer is generated from the intensity or spin of the sacral chakra.
Third Layer – The Mental Body
This is the layer of thought and the intellect, comprised of opinions and judgments about others and us. It extends about 4 to 8 inches from the physical body and is usually most visible around the head and shoulders as a yellowish light, especially when one is focusing the mind. The more active our thinking processes the brighter our mental layer becomes. This layer is generated from the intensity or spin of the solar plexus chakra
Fourth Layer – The Astral Body
This layer extends about 8 to 12 inches from the physical body. It is composed of clouds of colour and is the bridge between the lower three layers and the upper three layers. It is similar in appearance to the emotional body. The colours are brighter and rose-hued with the light of love. The more one opens ones heart space the ability to travel in soul out of the physical body manifests. This is often called “astral travel”. Whereas the first three chakras deal with the three dimensions it is through this layer that the fourth dimension begins to be acknowledged. This is the level at which transformation to spiritual love is possible. This layer is generated from the intensity or spin of the heart chakra
Fifth Layer – The Etheric Blueprint Body
This layer is a perfect copy of our physical body, on the higher plane. It extends about 12 to 24 inches from the physical body and appears like a perfect hologram of our life force. This is the first of the higher, spiritual layers. The etheric body can be sensed as a gauzy web. Some sense the blueprint all round the physical body and also through it. It is this layer, which explains the “phantom limb” phenomena whereby the area of severed limbs on humans can still be felt as though the limb were attached. This layer is the dominion of time and synchronicity, self-expression through the higher divine will. This layer is generated from the intensity or spin of the throat chakra.
Sixth Layer – The Celestial Body
This layer extends about 24 inches from the physical body and appears as pearly shimmering light of pastel colours. This layer holds our individual future and is our portal to that future. It is the realm of light and illumination. This layer allows us to “see” the light when accessed through meditation and higher spiritual practices. It is the realm where we see that which we wish to manifest and begin the process of taking it into the physical. This layer is generated from the intensity or spin of the third eye or brow chakra
Seventh Layer – The Ketheric Body (7th Heaven)
The seventh layer is also known as the causal body. It extends to at least 3 feet from the physical body. This layer is the egg shape shell of the aura. Through this layer we connect with consciousness of the creator, of the all. This layer appears as fine threads of golden-silver light that protects and holds together our entire field. It is like a fine membrane that is the barrier between what we allow in and what we allow out. It is our cosmic shield. The golden light that shimmers through the fine filaments at this level is an extension of divine mind. This is our higher mind, the highest level of knowing and integrating our spiritual self with our physical self. This layer is generated from the intensity or spin of the crown chakra.
